The following schedule is used to determine the length of a suspension period for any Alabama license holder: points in a 2-year period ­- 60 days. points in a 2-year period ­- 90 days. points in a 2-year period ­- days. points in a 2-year period ­- days. 24 and above points in a 2-year period -­ days. All applicants who have not been licensed in Alabama or whose Alabama license has been expired for over three years must pass the required drivers examination. A holder of an out of state license which has not been expired over one year does not have to pass a . Driving with a suspended license/or no license. The length of the suspension will increase and you can be in prison for 5 years. Driving without insurance. All vehicles in Alabama must be insured. If your car is not insured your license will be suspended. Driving-related violations. License can be suspended for: reckless driving, fault in a fatal accident, or if abandon your vehicle on a public highway.


Effective Sept. 1, the Brewton Driver License Office will only be open on Wednesdays. Selma Driver License Office Closed Monday, December 27, and Monday, January 3. Approved Hardship license applicants will receive an approval letter in the mail from ALEA. The applicant will have 30 days to visit an ALEA Driver License office (with their approval letter) to have the Hardship license issued. Applicants may have to retest. 12 through 14 points: suspension 60 days. 15 through 17 points: suspension 90 days. 18 through 20 points: suspension days. 21 through 23 points: suspension days. 24 points (or more): suspension days.
